Brighton Council said it's approach recognises the fact some people who have periods are trans and non binary.

Primary school pupils will be told that "trans boys and men and non-binary people may have periods" in a bid to tackle stigma surrounding menstruation.

The advice to teachers was approved by Brighton Council, which said it is important for all genders al, learn and talk about menstruation.

The report says that trans pupils and children should be provided with additional support from a school nurse if needed and it was "important for all genders to be able to learn and talk about menstruation. It states that illustrated guide to anal sex are not "dirty, disgusting, or something to be embarrassed by" and that periods can be "something to celebrate".

The advice comes just months after Brighton and Hove City Council issued a Trans Inclusion Schools Toolkit to encourage sensitivity around student gender identity.

The tool kit attempts to explain the difference between biological sex and gender identity and says all children should have access to a toilet and changing room that corresponds to their sez identity.

Tory MP David Davis told the Mail On Sunday it was "insanity" for teachers to be explaining the concept of transgender boys having periods to eight-year-olds. He said: But the council said its approach recognises the fact some people who have periods are trans and non binary.
